I was born in Sault
Ste Marie Ontario Canada, the year 1947.
My father was 62 years old at
the time. This made me the third child in a family of six. He had a
heart condition which in those days the doctor's thought a dryer climate
was the answer. We moved to a small farm in McKerrow Ontario Canada just
40 miles west of Sudbury Ontario Canada.
We didn't have much, only a
very small pension to live on and a farm that looked after us. We didn't
have anything to play music with, just an old battery radio that dad
would tune to the Wheeling West Virginia Show . We would all sing along
with that old radio.
I had an old guitar lent to me around the age of 14
and as I remember the first tune I learnt was The Wildwood Flower. I
started writing songs in my late forties when country music started
turning around with a more rocky attitude. I missed the old songs and
felt that songs of real life and truth with heart was still needed today
to keep focus of what was real.
I had the good fortune to work with
Robbie Whittkowski and the Whispering Bill Anderson Band along with some
Grand Old Opry band member's down it Nashville Tennessee. This was a
dream of a lifetime and also gave my wife and I the opportunity to be
back stage four times during the Friday and Saturday night shows.
Rubbing shoulders with those people is a thing I can bring to my grave
with me and a chance I never thought I would have. I don't know of
anyone else that put out their first CD with the quality of people that
I had the good fortune to work with, for my very first time. I was as
green as the leaves on your tree's, with my knees and voice shaking I
tell you .I have moved forward with this experience under my belt,
thinking my first should have been in a back yard somewhere, but dreams
do come alive and we should all be ready for them. I will make this CD
available, but I have redone the songs here at home to compare them as
the before and after editions. The rest will be my
future and my history all rolled into one this year Oct.10/2005.
